A penile implant is a medical device inserted within the penis to aid men with erectile dysfunction in achieving an erection. There are three main types of penile implants: semirigid, inflatable, and both options require surgical intervention. It's important to note that while a penile implant facilitates erections, it does not enhance sexual desire, sensation, or size. We offer these implants as a solution for those experiencing erectile dysfunction.
Inflatable implants are the most commonly used type. They can be inflated to achieve an erection and deflated afterward. There are two variations:
Three-part implants: This design uses a saline solution stored in a reservoir placed under the abdominal wall, a pump, a release valve, and two inflatable balloons within the penis shaft. Inflating the balloons creates an erection, and deflating them returns the penis to its flaccid state. This option offers a natural erection and complete flaccidity, but it has more components that could potentially malfunction.
Two-part implants: Similar to three-part implants, two-part implants include a pump and a reservoir combined into one component implanted in the scrotum. This version offers partial flaccidity when deflated and a slightly less rigid erection compared to the three-part model.
Semirigid implants consist of a device that is always firm. The penis can be bent upward for intercourse or downward for concealment. Among semirigid options, the positionable penile implant stands out. It comprises segments held together by springs, allowing the penis to maintain its position more effectively. This type has fewer parts, resulting in a lower risk of malfunction. However, it may lead to a penis that is perpetually slightly rigid and challenging to conceal under clothing.

You'll typically stay overnight in the hospital. After discharge, you'll continue recovery in your hotel room and attend post-operative check-ups as advised by your patient coordinator.
